Biography
| Realism largely defines the style of my earliest pieces, appearing polished, rich, and high in contrast. Sketches and life studies on the other hand exhibit an erratic, animated style. In the past year I have been attempting to combine that fluidity and spontaneity into my paintings while incorporating a sense of simultaneous tearing and ascension. My current body of work is a combination of fantasy, surrealism, and expressionism in oils with special emphasis on the human form. My most recent paintings retain the tenebrous and foreboding quality exhibited in many earlier works. The darkness and shadows however are juxtaposed with columns of blazing light and energy, my attempt to represent the polar opposites that seem to prevail both internally and externally. |

Awards
- Awarded scholarship in commercial art from Art Instruction Schools of Minnesota. Awarded 2nd place for the submission of “Farm Fresh” in the 2000 Annual Art Competition held by Art Instruction Schools of Minnesota. Awarded first and second place for the submissions of “Ascend #II” and “Erase #II” in the Altered I/Altared Eye Fine Arts Competition.
