I did this drawing for a film demo as part of a local television program in Tacoma, WA called the Comcast Reaching Out Program. The camera man/producer Paul Turner filmed me during the illustration process, and also got some shots of my existing work for the show.

I referenced a deinonychus skeleton mounted in a leaping position from the Ultimate Dinosaur Book. I made some alterations to the position of the limbs, and of course just used my imagination to flesh him out. Though the drawing could have been finished during a single filming session, it wasn't necessary. I opted instead to take my time with the details and finished him the following day. I like to listen to music that I find suits the mood I'm going for; The Planet of the Apes and Saw soundtracks worked well!

The segment is scheduled to air on Comcast cable channel 76 in September. I know residents of Pierce County will be able to tune in, but I'm not sure if the show is broadcast at any others. I think it will also be available On Demand under the Get Local listing.

This is the first time I've done anything like this. Anyhow, it could be a helpful little televised plug for me! Mr. Turner films and broadcast local artists for the pure joy of it, so much gratitude for his help!

Deinonychus antirrhopus, the great animal to have ever lived... I think I was one of the few who stood up in the middle of Jurassic Park and yelled out, "That's not a Velociraptor!"

I know, I'm dumb. But what can I say, I'm a paleo-chick. ;)

Lovely work.
